- Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider 1 - Biochemist and badass motorcycle rider. After being kidnapped by the evil organization Shocker and converted into a Karate Bugman he escaped and waged a one-man war to destroy the evil organization. Was played by real life badass Hiroshi Fujioka, who also did his stunts. Unfortunately, Fujioka broke his leg doing a badass stunt so Hongo had to be replaced for some episodes by...
- Hayato Ichimonji/Kamen Rider 2 - Another dude kidnapped by Shocker and converted into a Karate Bugman but escaped. Replaced Hongo for a large chunk of the series, but everyone remembers Hongo more because #1 and brain-dead Takaru giving him sterolds.
- Tobei Tachibana - Pimp who owns a racing club and mentors the Riders.
- Kazuya Taki - FBI agent from America investigating Shocker in Japan (wouldn't that be more the CIA's job?) Can take on three Shocker Combatmen, but not four. Was included because Toei wanted to bank on a popular FBI show that was airing in Japan at the time.
- Great Leader - The mysterious leader of Shocker. Talks through a speaker but doesn't appear until the finale, where he's revealed to be the grand wizard of the KKK.
- Colonel Zol - Nazi Officer working for Shocker who looks Japanese even though he's German. For some reason most of his schemes seemed to involve using poison gas on children or harming them in some way. Dies in the Christmas episode when Kamen Rider 2 drops a mountain on him and a bunch of other Nazis.
